Using email marketing services can be a bit of a hit and miss affair. Unlike email advertising where you know your message is
going to be in front of your target audience as long as you choose an ezine to advertise in that is within your niche, a blast by an email marketing service is not going to be anywhere as near targeted.
The spin off from this though is that running one of these email campaigns is cheap – as low as 6 cents per 1000 if you order several million. This makes them useful for kick starting your own opt-in lists, testing landing pages and ad copy etc.
A few do’s and don’ts about email marketing services
Always run the smallest allowed campaign first so you can gauge the results. Almost all of these email marketing companies will have a price structure designed to lure you into ordering large quantities but what’s the point in ordering 5 million if 1 million didn’t get you so much as a click?
It’s extremely hard to make a sale through this type of email marketing campaign so don’t try. Create something of value and give it away for free via your squeeze page. That way you can get them into your sales funnel and tell them the benefits of your product over several emails.
Don’t ever use email marketing services that offer poor targeting, ie. ‘would you like to market to men or women?’ is not targeted enough. You need as many categories to choose from as possible if you are to have any success with your campaign.
A few email marketing services
These are companies I have used over the years but please be aware that using these or any other email marketing services available will bring varying results, even for the same or similar offers. No one can guarantee you results for your campaign as it will be totally dependent on your offers, your copy, your squeeze pages and most importantly, the people seeing your ads.
Safe Mail Services
Currently my favorite place to go for testing click thru rates as it’s a one off payment of just $39.95 and that gives you life time access
to their double opt-in list of just over 3 million. You can use their email marketing software to blast 1 ad per day.
You are not going to make many sales from this list but at this price it’s great for testing your ad copy and ad campaigns in general and you will get people to opt-in to your own lists with the right offers.
I particularly like to test my subject lines with this email marketing service because you have the ability to save your ad within the system for use on another day. Simply change your subject line and send it out again, recording your opening rates. You can really fine tune all aspects of an email marketing campaign with this service.
Blast 4 Traffic
Another business offering their e-mail marketing services for a one off fee.
Mixed results, again very much dependent on the niche I was promoting. I didn’t sign up for this for a while, mainly put off by their sales pitch which comes across as almost desperate with all the freebies they promise to throw at you but it’s an ok service and I’ve done ok with it.
They are currently offering full membership at half price and at under $35 you would be hard pushed not to at least get your money back even with a bad offer.
Opt-in Services
One of the best bulk mailing services available and I’ve used these on more than one occasion but the results will vary dependent on the categories you are promoting to so you will need to test. Prices
start at $49 for an email blast of 300K which is a good number to run a test campaign with.
The order process is straight forward, plenty of categories to choose from and your email marketing blast is usually started within a day and completed within a week. You can also monitor the clicks your ads generate in real time.
One of the best email marketing services available and comes with reasonable rates but don’t be tempted to go for big numbers without first testing your ads with one of the above services or using their lowest order.
Summary:
These email marketing services can and do provide results but don’t expect miracles because of all the variables at play.
